How to Tie Lo-Board’s Rope.

To get started with Lo-Board, you’re going to have to tie Lo-Board’s rope to the sled. We thought we’d leave this up to you as we’ve found some different ways of tying the rope for maximum fun sledding.

If you are a parent pulling a child - we recommend two bowline knots.

If you are the sledder in control of the sledge - we recommend a reef knot.

Bowline Knot Setup

Bowline Instructions:

  1. Form a Small Loop (the "Rabbit Hole"):

Take the end of the rope (the "working end") and form a small loop near the end of the rope.

Make sure the loop is on top of the standing part (the longer section of rope that is not being used to make the knot).

  2. Bring the Working End Through the Loop:

Imagine the working end as a "rabbit" that will go through the loop (the "rabbit hole").

Take the working end and pass it up through the loop from underneath.

  3. Wrap Around the Standing Part:

After passing through the loop, bring the working end around the back of the standing part of the rope.

  4. Bring the Working End Back Through the Loop:

Now, pass the working end back down through the original loop (rabbit hole) it came up through.

  5. Tighten the Knot:

Pull the working end and the standing part of the rope simultaneously to tighten the knot.

The knot should form a secure, non-slip loop that resembles a "D" shape with a small, locked loop on the side.

  6. Repeat and Attach:

Now that you’ve tied one loop, repeat the process on the other side of the rope.

One loop can be held by hand, while the other loop is secured by the Lo-Board device.

Reef Knot Instructions

  1. Hold the Ends
Hold one end of the rope in each hand. Let's call the end in your right hand "End A" and the end in your left hand "End B."

  2. Make the First Overhand Knot
Cross End A over End B, then wrap End A under End B and pull it through, just like starting a simple overhand knot. This will result in End A now being on your left and End B on your right.

  3. Make the Second Overhand Knot
Now, reverse the previous cross: Cross End B over End A (the opposite way of the first cross), then wrap End B under End A and pull it through.

  4. Tighten the Knot
Pull both ends tight to secure the knot. You should see that the ends run parallel to each other on both sides of the knot, giving it a neat, symmetrical look.

  5. Attach Lo-Board

Now that you’ve tied a big loop, you’re ready to attach Lo-Board! Secure the Lo-Board device over the loop for the ultimate handle.
